An Author Driven by a Mission
Every author carries a reason for writing. For Japhet Rutere, the reason was clear: too many people were losing themselves, their families, and their futures to alcohol and drugs. He saw a gap in resources that were both honest and structured. He wanted to create something practical, something people could pick up and actually use. A Choice Ever to Regret was born out of this commitment. It is not just another book on addiction, it is his answer to a problem that keeps repeating across homes and communities.
Support That Shaped the Work
Rutere didn’t write this book just to have a book. His goal was to create a resource educators could use, rehabilitation centers could integrate, and families could share confidently. He acknowledges that this work wasn’t done alone. His wife and three sons, Dennis, Kelvin, and Ian, provided patience and encouragement throughout the process. He also thanks the counselors, institutions, and organizations whose insights shaped the book, with special recognition to Mercy Kibiti, whose efforts in typing the original notes brought the manuscript to completion.
